NEWS INFORMATION AND PRESS RELEASES
- KSPG Members Get New School Legislation Passed —Senate Bill 65 was passed unanimously and signed by Governor Beshear on April 13th. Beginning
this school year every principal, guidance counselor, and teacher will complete a minimum of two hours of instruction in suicide prevention.House Bill 51 also passed which requires
every public middle and high school administrator to disseminate suicide prevention awareness information to all middle and high school students by September 1, 2010. Click here to read more.

- Kentucky Suicide Prevention Week, Sept. 7-13 — During the 2008 legislative session, due to the efforts of KSPG members, Sept. 7–13 was officially declared Kentucky Suicide Prevention Week by a unanimous vote. View Article.

- Three year SAMHSA Grant Awarded — In 2006, the Department for Mental Health was awarded a three year Garrett Lee Smith Memorial, SAMSHA Grant to help decrease suicide deaths and attempts across the Commonwealth through advocacy, education, training and evaluation. View Article.
